What is Elderhostel? 
Elderhostel is an educational program for adults ages 55 and older.  Programs are designed to teach hostelers new skills or hobbies, and to learn more about topics of interest.  Geneva Point Center’s Elderhostel programs are generally hands-on and take advantage of the beautiful surroundings of Lake Winnipesaukee.  Register today for an Elderhostel at Geneva Point Center!

Life On Golden Pond: Canoeing & Astronomy

Explore the natural beauty and rich history of the majestic Squam Lake as depicted in the Katharine Hepburn/Henry Fonda film On Golden Pond. Enjoy a boat ride on Squam Lake, and dining out at a local restaurant where part of the film takes place. Journey through the night sky using telescope, binoculars, or just the unaided eye. Learn the constellations and their related mythology and star legends. Explore Lake Winnipesaukee by canoe with a certified canoe instructor. Learn about the modern pressures on the ecosystem of these Lakes and how that affects the precious loon population. Experience the wonder of the landscapes, seascapes, and skyscapes of the picturesque Lakes Region.

Hike & Canoe in the Lakes Region of NH

Spend a week of adventure with other Elderhostel participants who love the outdoors as we explore the Granite State by water and foot. Take several day hikes in the White Mountain region with experienced guides. Canoe the beautiful waters of Lake Winnipesaukee, a picturesque lake with a mountainous backdrop. Canoe instruction will be provided. Beginners welcome! Bring your camera and hiking boots and enjoy exploring New Hampshire.

Natural History And Folklore Of New Hampshire During Fall Foliage

Explore the history and folklore of New Hampshire's people and natural surroundings. Experience the awesome beauty and magnificent colors of the autumn foliage in the White Mountains and Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Ride across the Kancamagus Highway, visit Franconia Notch, as well as local points of interest. Enjoy walks on Geneva Point's nature trail with an experienced naturalist, while viewing the picturesque scenes of Lake Winnipesaukee and the Ossipee Mountains with fall foliage at its peak.

Photography: From Picture To Photograph In Beautiful New Hampshire

Using our beautiful New Hampshire lakeside site as our home base, we will explore and photograph selected areas within the Winnipesaukee and Squam Lakes Region, the White Mountains, including the Kancamagus Highway, and the New Hampshire seacoast. Our instructors will provide tips on technique and composition along the way. Those using digital cameras will not have access to a computer at the site and may want to bring their own if possible. Single lens reflex cameras are preferred but not required. Film users will be asked to shoot slides; film will be sold at site. Film and lab fees are extra and average about $40.
